What a joke!

ZDNet published an article with the title Fastest VPN deal: Get lifetime protection for 10 devices for only $25. The article is marked with the text Our editors pick the products and services we write about. When you buy through our links, ZDNet may earn a commission.

We have no problems with the fact that ZDNet have to earn money to run their site. Then we start thinking about a VPN deal offering life time service to just USD 25 including the kick-back to ZDNet. Let us assume the kick-back is 20-40% the the net income for VPN provider is just USD 15-25. Do you really think you can run a business for just that money? Of course, they can’t! At least not without reducing costs, meaning the VPN provider will not be able to keep up to date with the latest technology to protect you as a user. A VPN provider also has a lot of information about their users. How attractive do you think it is for a company that doesn’t make money on their subscriptions to instead start selling information about the customers?

If you decide to go for this deal you have to accept a few things.

I agree to Terms of Service: By registering you become a member of the CBS Interactive family of sites and you have read and agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Video Services Policy. You agree to receive updates, alerts and promotions from CBS and that CBS may share information about you with our marketing partners so that they may contact you by email or otherwise about their products or services.

The privacy policy you have to accept when buying this crappy VPN service means ViacomCBS till share information about you both internally and to third part – have a look at https://www.viacomcbsprivacy.com/en/policy?r=www.viacomcbsprivacy.com#Who.

In case you want a VPN service we strongly recommend Mullvad VPN (https://mullvad.net/). Please note that we don’t have any relation with Mullvad VPN, we just recommend them because they offer the best VPN service available.
